The good:
I loved this gadget when I first got it -my boyfriend gave it to me as a Christmas present because I never remember to plug in my phone when I get home. The powermat is such a cool idea; I just drop the phone on the mat right next to my key bowl.
The bad:
Like most of the other reviews here, the battery door didn't quite fit right. We messed around with the little metal nodes and got it to snap in. I found out later that Powermat will replace it with a new one that they've made sure fits right.
The worst is of course that it stopped working after about a month of regular use! The mat makes the connected noise and lights up, but my Droid doesn't charge! I read that this has happened to more than a few other people with the EVOs. I am trying to return mine (under warranty) directly to Powermat because it's been too long to return it to the store. We'll see what happens!

I bought this for my droid X. I knew that I had to replace the back cover with Powermat's backcover so that' wasn't a big surprise. I was, however, surprised to find that the back, itself, doesn't connect to the battery. Instead, there's a little "nub" that connects the battery to the mini-USB port on the side (where you would normally plug in your charger.) The end result is a nub that protrudes. Not too big a deal for me but I would think they should be able to give you a back that connects directly into the battery - maybe that's for the future versions? When I laid my Droid on the Powermat, it gave an audible tone letting me know it was charging. And the Droid showed it was being charged. But after two days, it's not charging even though I get the audible tone. Not sure if that's common ... just glad I saved the box as I may have to take it back. Also, the nub will be a problem for people who carry their Droids in a snap-in holster. I'm rating this 3 stars because the little nub doesn't bother me as I carry it in my pocket (no, it's not getting stuck on my pocket when I'm removing it.) Yeah, it's not working at the moment but that stuff happens - I like the idea, I like the value proposition ... and I'm sure as an "early adopter" I'll go through some pains but in the end it's worth it to me.

Bought the Powermat for Droid X and returned it promptly. BEWARE: the battery door cover, which is a necessity, does not snap into place. It will not close and flat out does not fit. Everybody is having the same issue, check out the forums. This product is crap. Do not waste your time.
